GIZ – The Regional Fit for School Program is seeking 1 qualified Indonesian candidate for position “PROGRAM MANAGER ” to be based in Bandung.

PROGRAM MANAGER

Short background: The Regional Fit for School Program is based on the principles of the Fit for School approach, which has been developed in the Philippines with support of German Development Cooperation. This school health approach is focusing on intersectoral collaboration and makes use of the existing structures of the education sector to institutionalize evidence based preventive measures as daily routine in everyday school live in public elementary schools. For more information on the Fit for School approach please visit www.fitforschool.phThe overall goal of the regional Fit for School Program is to adapt and expand the Fit for School approach to other countries in Southeast Asia with the objective to improve the health and education outcomes of school children in selected intervention schools in the participating countries (Philippines, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Indonesia). Parts of the team of the regional Fit for School program will be based in Manila where the regional partner SEAMEO INNOTECH is based. Additionally there will be a small team in each country. In Indonesia the team will be based in Bandung and will consist of 1 Program Manager and 1 Senior Administrative Assistant.Starting Date: December 2011, Duration of Assignment: 36 month            Work Location: Bandung, West Java, Indonesia             Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Support and advise national partners in modeling, planning, implementing and evaluating of a school health program based on the Fit for School approach  
  • Coordinate support for program implementation in selected schools with local school authorities, principals, teachers, parents, community leaders, and local development partners
  • Support national partners in the development of appropriate monitoring indicators as well as regular monitoring and evaluation of program implementation
  • Facilitate periodic meetings with the national steering and/or working groups to update and follow-up on the implementation status and committed support agreements
  • Support and coordinate with the Regional Fit for School Team in program management and results-based monitoring and reporting
  • Establish and coordinate a network within the health, education and water/sanitation sector to promote intersectoral and interministerial collaboration in the field of school health (e.g. support national partner in creation of functional intersectoral working groups)
  • Coordinate program efforts with development partners supporting school health and WASH and, if feasible, with private industry partners.
  • Support South-South Development by establishing a strong network among all Fit for School programs within SEAMEO network

Experience and Qualifications:

  • University degree in a medical field, health science and/or education or a related subject
  • At least five years’ working experience in implementing education and health promotion measures in developing countries with a special focus on intersectoral collaboration (e.g. education, water and sanitation)
  • Working experience on district level and/or community level
  • Skills / Experience in health promotion, school health, health communication, project management
  • Experience working with the Ministry of Education and Sports and/ or Ministry of Health and/or Ministry of Rural Development
  • In depth knowledge of the local context Indonesia, particularly in West Java
  • Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems, IT-know-how (MS Office, database program, internet-based teaching and learning technologies, etc.)
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (essential).  Fluency in Sundanese is an adavantage.
